Betty J. Jordan George, 77

On June 25, 1942 Henry Jordan Sr. and Mary “Di-A” White Jordan (both deceased) welcomed their first child Betty Jean Jordan into their loving family in Madison County, Florida. She attended the public schools in Brooks County, Georgia, Washington Street High School. She moved to Moore Haven, Florida and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. She continued her education at Indian River Junior College in Fort Pierce, Florida.

She worked in Early Child

hood Education in Fort Pierce, Florida for many years before moving to Alexandria, Virginia. She was employed with the Northern Virginia Training Center of Fairfax, Virginia and the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP).

Betty was very active in church throughout her life. She was a member of Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Virginia, Pineview Freewill Baptist Church in Brooks County and Evangel Temple Church in Valdosta, GA.

Betty was preceded in death by her only brother, Henry Jordan Jr. and beloved nephew, Christopher Warren Carter.

She is survived by four sisters, Daisy Carter, Fairfax, VA; Margaret Jordan, Valdosta, GA; Pinkie (Leroy) Peterson, Palm Bay, FL; Bessie Dennis, Manassas, VA; numerous relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Evangel Temple Church in Valdosta, Georgia with Bishop H. E. Wright officiating. Burial followed at the Pineview Cemetery in Quitman.
