Mildred Strickland, 80

Mrs. Mildred Richardson Strickland was born May 30, 1939 to the late Clarence Richardson and Annie Maude Wooten Richardson in Dixie, Georgia. On October 22, 2019 she entered eternal rest.

Mildred accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined Simmon Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

Educated in the Brooks County School System, she was employed with The Presbyterian Nursing Home, Quitman and Barwick Manufacturing and Lowndes County DFCS with the Senior Citizens Program for many years.  She was married to the love of her life for 40 plus years William Strickland, who preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by a sister; Mytrice Richardson Jackson and a grandson; Antonio “Jermaine” Mitchell.

Mildred Richardson Strickland leaves fond memories to; her children, Velerie (Craig) Walden, Sammie May, William (Crystal) Strickland, Brenda (Golden) Strickland; uncle, Lovey (Bernice) Wooten; aunts, Cumi Wooten, Dorothy Wooten; sister-in-laws, Ethel (Rubert) Napier, Lou Ella Strickland, Ella Mae Strickland, Sarah Strickland; brother-in-law, John Strickland; adopted son, Elder DeShawn (Cynthia) Marshall; adopted daughter, Tanielle  McNeary and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 3 p.m. at Simmon Hill MB Church in Dixie, with Pastor James Duval officiating. Burial followed in the North End Cemetery in Quitman.
