Trojans stun Rockmart 41-3

The Trojans made the long trip to Rockmart worthwhile, stunning the top ranked, undefeated, and never challenged Jackets 41-3 in the second round of the AA state playoffs. The Trojans will now travel to Metter and face the 11-1 region 3 champion Tigers.

Rockmart blocked a punt on the Trojans opening possession but the BoneCrusher defense set the tone for the game stuffing the Jackets and holding them to a field goal. After that it  total domination as quarterback Tay Burrus put his skills on display running, throwing, and reading the defense. He took what they gave him and played an almost perfect first half.

Omari Arnold continued his superb play all over the field finishing with 97 yards on 10 carries and 3 touchdowns. But the play that wowed the crowd and put the game on ice was the 98 yard touchdown interception return as time expired in the first half.Arnold broke at least 7 tackles to put the game away at 34-3.

In the second half the Trojans played Ball control with BJ Huewitt plowing over Jackets and scoring on a 22 yard run. The mighty mighty O Line continued to dominate the line of scrimmage.

The entire Trojan tem has been Man On Fire for the last month but one area that must improve is the kickoff coverage which is allowing the opponents to begin drives  around midfield after Trojans scores.

The Metter Tigers will be a formidable opponent coming off a 1st round 27-19 win over Screven and a 14-7 win over Union County Friday. They are huge across the front line and have big physical running backs. Defensively they run an under  front and are sure tacklers on the back end. They want to play ball control field position football and make very few mistakes. The winner advances to the semi finals and will play the winner of the Callawa-Douglas game.
